John Stedman, DO – Medical Director
After attending The University of California at Fullerton, Dr. Stedman attended the University of Hartford where he earned a degree in chemistry and biology. He entered Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery where he graduated with a degree in Osteopathic Medicine in 1969.
A native of Hartford, Connecticut, he moved to Maine where he was attracted to a small town atmosphere to raise his family. Dr. Stedman completed his internship at the Osteopathic Hospital in Portland in 1970, and soon opened a private practice in Family medicine, where he continued to practice and serve his community for 37 years.
In 2007, Dr. Stedman retired from his full-time practice. With a strong interest in substance abuse, he pursued further education in addiction medicine through the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 2005 and established a part-time private practice providing care, education and medication assisted treatment to individuals struggling with opioid addiction and seeking recovery.
In July 2011 Dr. Stedman joined Food Addiction Chemical Dependency Consultants in Portland as a member of our treatment team.
